Alpha Power: Redefining Rap

“Rap music is a combination of many different arts to make something new. There’s always been a stigma that its existence would be short and only appeal to a certain group—but it’s the biggest music in the world,” three-time Grammy Award winner Chance the Rapper said.

$wagDBOSS recognized the power of rap and hip-hop music and founded Alpha Power in early 2021. Alpha Power is a rap and hip-hop music production company that aspires to create motivational songs to inspire the public to achieve their dreams. The company’s mission is to encourage everybody to achieve greatness.

Other leaders in the company include Sto, who is the Chief Operations Officer and Vice President of the Company, and Fløw, who is the Chief Technology Officer.

“Our hope one day is that we are able to touch the hearts of every single human on Earth. Each rap is created with a unique message that can be applied into daily life to become more successful or can simply just be listened to just help one get things done,” the Alpha Power team said.

Nine months ago, $wagDBOSS and Sto from Alpha Power Industries put out a song called “Hope.” In it, they sing, “As long as you got hope, that’s really super duper dope,” encouraging listeners to stay positive.

Alpha Power works to make their raps as accessible as possible for people of all economic backgrounds. “Initially, we chose to distribute our raps for free. This is because we did not want to burden anyone financially who wanted to listen to our music,” the Alpha Power team said. “We know the pandemic has been hard on everyone… it is our sort of way of giving back to the community.” This also benefits Alpha Power from a business standpoint, as it gets as many people as possible to have access to their music.

“After we built up a little bit of an audience and the world progressed into a better state, we decided to charge a very affordable price on each rap of $1.99,” the Alpha Power team said.

One of the hardest parts of creating and sustaining a successful business is promoting it. “Marketing a small business can be hard. I know that from experience because I’ve worked for them, worked with them and I am one myself too,” Digital Marketing Consultant and Trainer Rob Watson said.

This challenge is no exception for Alpha Power. “The most challenging part about Alpha Power has been promoting our music. This is because promoting music takes a lot of time and effort. Since we’re still relatively new to music promotion, we’ve still been experimenting with what tactics work better than others. We’re not sure yet what works better than not, but we believe we’re starting to get the hang of it,” said the Alpha Power team.

However, the team feels as if the challenges they face fade in comparison to the rewarding experience of inspiring their audience and touching people’s lives.“It is incredibly heartwarming to get messages from people saying how listening to our song encouraged them to accomplish a certain task in their life. This is what pushes us each day at Alpha Power to continue doing what we do,” they said. “The feedback we get from our listeners is also super lovely too because it tells us how we can improve our songs and brand to be able to influence more and more people.”

In the future, the Alpha Power team hopes to grow their company to produce more songs and reach a larger audience. “[We will] continue to inspire more and more individuals to pursue their dreams and never give up on them in the face of adversity,” they said. “We also have a super committed team. Each member is deeply passionate about the art of rapping, which definitely contributes to our success as a rap company. There is also a ton of optimism in our group because each one of us has faced a ton of adversity, so we know what it’s like to be able to push through and complete our goals.”
