Fifteen movies to watch during quarantine

As the coronavirus pandemic spreads further, we’ll likely be stuck in our homes for at least another few weeks. To fight the impending boredom, here are 15 movies—along with their respective streaming platforms—you can binge while social distancing.

  1. Frozen 2 (Disney Plus): Originally scheduled to be released three months later, Frozen 2 hit Disney Plus on March 15th. Like the first movie, you can truly rewatch this movie endlessly and see Elsa and Anna venture to the other side of the kingdom.
  2. Moonlight (Netflix): The Academy Award for Best Picture went to Moonlight in 2017. The film has power and generosity, conveying such powerful thoughts and feelings that it’s as if you are experiencing them yourself
  3. Charlie’s Angels (Netflix): The original 2000 crime and thriller is of an elite trio of private investigators. And like they say, “They’re beautiful, they’re brilliant, and they work for Charlie.
  4. A Quiet Place (Hulu): The 2018 horror film features a family that has to live in silence as they fight for survival. It stars John Krasinski and Emily Blunt; the sequel is set to be released in mid-May.
  5. A Star Is Born (HBO Go): The 8-time Oscar nominee movie starring Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga is a drama of love and music. The movie tackles the pitfalls of fame and addiction; it also includes arguably one of the best movie soundtracks of that year, producing hits like “Shallow” and “I’ll Never Love Again”.
  6. He’s Just Not That Into You (Netflix): Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston, Bradley Cooper, Scarlett Johansson, Kevin Conolley and Drew Barrymore all navigate modern day relationships. The Baltimore-based romantic comedy-drama shows the true downsides of misreading human behavior.
  7. When Harry Met Sally (Hulu): In this heartwarming romantic comedy, Harry and Sally are platonic friends, and they worry that romantic feelings will ruin their relationship. Is it truly possible for men and women to be strictly friends?
  8. Black Panther (Disney Plus): T’Challa is met with adversity when he returns to the kingdom of Wakanda to take his place as king after his father passes away. The first African superhero’s movie stars Chadwick Boseman, Lupito Nyong’o and Michael B Jordan.
  9. As Good As It Gets (Netflix): Arrogant, homophobic, obbsessive romantic fiction writer Melvin Udall is not a good person. When he’s faced with pet-sitting his neighbor’s dog, his character gets as good as it gets.
  10. Incredibles 2 (Netflix): Mr. Incredible faces his greatest challenge ever: taking care of the family alone. This animated action movie sees Elastigirl on a mission to fight crime and restore the reputation of superheroes as her family descends into chaos.
  11. Booksmart (Hulu): Two high school overachievers about to graduate realize they have missed out on high school fun and decide to do it all on the night before graduation. Booksmart adds a new smart spin to the coming-of-age movie.
  12. Us (HBO Go): If you enjoyed Get Out, then this one is for you too. The horror movie starring Lupito Nyong’o has her and her family going to a beach town where she once had a horrifying experience, only to return and get an even more horrific one.
  13. Hala (Apple TV Plus): The coming-of-age movie tells the story of Hala, a young Pakistani-American girl, as she struggles with balancing personal desire with her family, cultural and religious obligations.
  14. Guava Island (Amazon Prime): This tropical island thriller, starring Rihanna and Donald Glover, takes place on Guava Island, where a local musician is planning to throw a festival. The indie film tackles love, war and everything in between.
  15. Bohemian Rhapsody (HBO Go): This 2018 biographical movie about Freddie Mercury shows the band Queen’s rise, Freddie Mercury’s solo career and Queen’s reunion with Mercury in what became the most popular performances in Rock N’ Roll.
