After a tiring workout or a lengthy sports practice, ingesting food and nutrients should be your priority.
So why not choose something that’s fairly healthy and contains plenty of protein? After all, protein is essential to repairing exercise-torn muscles and ensuring that they’re ready for the next day.
That’s where my protein shake—a flavorful synthesis of rich chocolate, peppermint and banana—comes in.
The recipe is quite simple. Blend the following ingredients together until you reach your desired thickness:
- 1 cup 2 percent milk
- 3 ice cubes (can vary with size)
- 1 sliced frozen banana
- 1 scoop chocolate protein powder (20 grams of protein)
- 1 tablespoon peppermint extract
- And, if you had a really tiring workout, you can treat yourself by adding Nutella, chocolate syrup or even ice cream
Of course, feel free to mix in other protein powders, change the milk fat content or swap out extracts, but try to keep the proportions the same.
Avoid drinking premade protein shakes at all costs; they have extremely high sugar content. In the same vein, choose a protein powder with minimal sugar content.
Hopefully, this recipe will provide you with the perfect post-workout snack.
