Earlier today, the Intel Science Talent Search announced the names of the 300 semifinalists for its 2015 nation-wide science competition. Maryland is home to 21 of the semifinalists, with Montgomery Blair High School alone boasting 12 winners, more than any other Maryland school. Each semifinalist receives a $1,000 scholarship, with an additional $1,000 going to the semifinalist’s school. The MoCo Student itself includes one of this year’s semifinalists– staff writer Zoey Tang of Richard Montgomery High School won for a project titled “A Mammalian Expression System Provides Pure, Soluble and Fully Functional HIV-1 Integrase for Crystal Structural Studies and Reveals Novel Posttranslational Modifications.” The following is a list of all the semifinalists from Montgomery County, sorted by which high school they attend.
