The Maryland Association of Student Councils (MASC) is gearing up for its annual Legislative Session, where delegates from school student governments from across the state will convene in Allegany County to select the final two candidates for the Student Member of the State Board of Education. This year, the following candidates will give speeches, answer questions, and campaign to become finalists for the state SMOB position.
- Ben Feshbach, Wootton High School (Montgomery County)
- Jacob Gaddis, Decatur High School (Worcester County)
- Kieran Murphy, Bennett High School (Wicomico County)
- Jeremy Price, Westminster High School (Carroll County)
- Stephen Priester, Manchester Valley High School (Carroll County)
Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley will determine which of the final two candidates will serve and vote on the state Board of Education. Last year, he appointed Anne Arundel County student Christian Hodges.
Any student from a MASC member school may attend Legislative Session and vote for the state SMOB candidates. For more information on MASC Legislative Session, click here for the information packet MASC recently distributed to Montgomery County student governments.
