More than one thousand eighth grade students from public and private middle schools around Montgomery County gathered at Blair, Richard Montgomery, and Poolesville High School this morning to take entrance qualification exams for magnet programs. While stressful for many, the test was a relief to some students who spent countless hours in preparation. Coincidentally, the SATs, usually administered to high school juniors and seniors, also took place today around the same time. A strong parallel exists between the format, time frame, and style of questions that appear on both tests. Students will learn the results of their performance on the magnet exams during the first week of February, when decisions regarding their acceptance will also be released. Students who took the December SAT will discover their scores on December 23.
