Flu season is upon is. The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services will conduct free nasal spray flu vaccine clinics (FluMist) for MCPS students. All MCPS elementary schools will host a flu clinic on either Monday, Nov. 11 or Tuesday, Nov. 12, following early dismissal of students on those days. The clinics are free, but registration is required.
For students to receive a flu shot at any of these clinics, a parent, guardian, or adult must accompany them and bring a completed and signed Consent Form (http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/uploadedFiles/emergency/flu/fluconsentform.pdf). The vaccination for seasonal flu is entirely voluntary and is not required for school.
Clinics open to adults are located across the county. Appointment-making and other information can be found online at http://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/resident/flu.html.
It is strongly recommended that un-immunized children under 9 receive the flu vaccine; they are most vulnerable to the disease.
